What exactly is denier when it comes to pantyhose?
Does it have to do with thickness or how shiny they are or how sheer they are???
Please give me some examples such as “ultra sheer pantyhose have a very low denier like 20, but opaque pantyhose or tights have a much higher denier like 150.”
I would really like to understand this better so I can help my girlfriend pick out her tights and pantyhose.
I think it depends on what the occasion is for and also the weather perhaps?
The lower the denier the more transparent the stocking/pantyhose is. Some manufacturers make stockings that are close to 5 denier even which actually doesn’t look like there is anything covering the leg at all, but in the light the “sheerness” (if they have any) of them brings out the shininess of the stockings – which I find great =) and the higher the denier the thicker it becomes, as you mentioned, opaques are generally 80 plus =)
The ’sheerness’ is a different story. If the stocking/pantyhose package says it is sheer, then they should have a shine, but if it doesn’t then you would probably get a matt finish.
good luck with it all – try go for something ultra sheer with a low denier, you’ll love it =)
omigod it’s hot.
