Swelling at 19 weeks?
I am 19 weeks pregnant with my second baby. With my first baby I had SEVERE 4+ pitting edema, but I don’t remember getting it until about 6 months or so. I also gained way too much weight with that pregnancy (60 lbs). I am 19 weeks now and have only gained 1 lb. so far, so why am I starting to have the beginning signs of edema already? I drink lots and lots of water, eat healthily, and don’t eat too much salt. Are there any tips for me? Has anyone ever used compression stockings? Should I get the thigh highs or the kind that go all the way up like pantyhose? Thanks for all your help.
The hose that goes all the way up will help with back pains. It’s easier with subsequent pregnancies to swell quicker. Plus, weight hasn’t changed much so…. swelling will show quicker. i suggest try to walk in early morning/afternoons. Then rest with feet elevated for at least an hour after. Also, find a way to keep track of blood pressure to monitor for any changes.
